Learn more about me, the salon space, and the ways I'm going green.
I'm an independent hairstylist in Royal Oak, MI. I've been in the beauty industry since 2018 and went solo in 2023. I believe this job is special due to the personal and authentic relationships I get to build with my clients.
One, I love animals--you'll see many critters in my suite. Two, The most special animal in my life is Sylvia, my cat. She plays fetch and hollers a lot. Three, if you mention you have a pet, I WILL ask for a photo.
Antiquing, playing music, crocheting, cross-stitching, creating dioramas for my Calico Critters, talking a walk outside, drinking iced coffee, watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, or listening to John Denver.
Individuality, inclusivity, active listening, laughter, authenticity, going green where possible, and cruelty-free products.
When decorating my salon suite, I put an emphasis on finding decor that was secondhand, handmade, antique, or locally/small business made. You will see a lot of the color blue, animals such as raccoons, cats, and opossums, western elements, and even a salon goose (like a porch goose, but I don't have a porch)!
I believe my environmental impact as a stylist is important, as the beauty industry creates a lot of waste.
I incorporate 'green' elements into my work and space--mainly, collecting and recycling hair, metal, plastic, and paper. You will see the collection bins in my suite. I use cruelty-free and vegan products, such as Verb, Amika, and Kenra. Other 'green' initiatives in my salon include using reusable paper towels and refilling cleaning products with a local refillery.
